The ‘State of Kumerica’ could just not get enough of great music dished out to it by Y 102.5 FM and kept calling for encores at the third edition of the station’s 12 hour party activation, dubbed ‘Wake Keeping’
The ‘Wake Keeping’ saw a host of sensational Ghanaian DJs serving listeners of the brand with back to back tunes and putting them in the party mode.
The first ever digital party in the country was well received as Ghanaians all over the globe did not want to be left out. DJs and MCs were sourced from the best in the country, right from YFM, EIB Network, Multimedia and a special feature from the UK.
Chief Mourners taking turns at the turntables were DJs Soloku, Lexes, Carcious, Tablet, Bongo, Kbow, Esso, Coleda, Fellifil, Vintage and Kaxtro.
Turning up the party vibe a notch higher, the reigning champion of DJs in the Y-Triangle, DJ Edita made a guest appearance to give the Kumericans a feel of how the Taadi’s party. He was supported by the dangerous DJ from Accra, DJ Loft.
With NY DJ, Mr Bonez,MC Balli, TJ DJ, MC Alvin, Kwame Scientific, DJ Teena as hypemen with fire in their belly, they performed incredible roles by pumping DJs full of energy.
Wake-keeping is a 12hr continuous radio party stretch from 6:00pm on Friday to 6:00am Saturday morning, first of its kind in Ghana. The show seeks to bring back the life of partying in the era of COVID-19 but at a private level, with friends and families enjoying themselves at coded locations.
Programmes Manager of Y102.5FM Kumasi, Nathaniel Osei Kuffour, commenting on the ‘Wake Keeping’ shared, “It is an undisputed fact that we are trendsetters on the Ghanaian radio scene. With the COVID-19 pandemic still around, we brainstormed on the best way to relieve Ghanaians of boredom and put minds at ease, then boom, the concept for Wake Keeping was birthed. It is a great activation that has improved the psychological well-being of many people and we’re glad of this feat.
Listeners were also able to party, have the night club experience with their loved ones without breaching COVID-19 protocols we as a brand highly regard”.
