Ghanaian famed rapper, Kwesi Arthur has spoken out against the National Cathedral’s development.
Despite widespread opposition to the proposal, some members of the ruling National Patriotic Party (NPP) have spoken out in support of it.
Ken Ofori-Atta, the Minister of Finance, has said multiple times why the National Cathedral is so vital to the country.
He claims that once the project is completed, the state would be able to generate more revenue. Mr. Ofori-Atta estimates that the National Cathedral will raise at least US$1.8 billion in the first five years of operation once it is built and fully operating.
“The government is simply investing a little portion of its annual budget to develop what he terms a righteous state while achieving a critical nation transformation component; spirituality,” Ken Ofori Atta said.
However, the “Celebrate” hitmaker responded to the finance minister’s statement by stating that he is a tax-paying Ghanaian who does not desire a cathedral.
“I don’t want a cathedral as a Ghanaian,” Kwesi tweeted.
