Dr. Mrs. Ellen Hagan, Founder and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the country’s premier human resource consultancy, L’AINE Services Limited has given a useful guide on how graduates can prepare for the job market and successfully transition from a student to an employee.
She believes the best way for one to prepare for the new journey is to have undertaken projects as interns or volunteers while in school.
She advises on the Y Leaderboard Show with Rev. Erskine: “From what we see with the calibre of graduates that are being churned out, we need to encourage some sort of orientation in the line of internships, volunteering; encourage them to engage in all these”.
“When one starts working, they may not go according to the rules as it were so we must encourage them to have more of those internship programs, get people to mentor them and let them realize that putting theory into practice is a different ball game all together”, she adds.
Meanwhile, she expressed confidence that graduates of today have proven ready for the fast-changing work world. According to her, graduates of today are more inclined to work for purpose-driven companies as the notion is that these companies make an impact in our society.
