LinkedIn may be quiet these days, but it doesn’t mean that it’s dormant; And is has just announced that it hit the 500 million-user milestone.
The “professional” social network got acquired by Microsoft last year, in a move that raised eyebrows, but made perfect sense; Microsoft is putting a lot of effort into developing its cloud and licensing services, so having a network of professionals at its doorstep, could work miracles for its Business Development department.
In a blog post published Monday, Aatif Awan, Vice President, Growth & International Products at LinkedIn pointed recounted a series of successes, anecdotes and next steps for the social network. An interesting fact is that the network currently hosts more than 10 million active jobs, access to 9+ million companies, and more than 100,000 new articles every week.
In addition to this, every connection on LinkedIn has access to 500 job openings, 100 different companies, and up to 400 new connections that you can be introduced to.
In terms of geographical penetration, the following graphs prove to be really interesting, with various places topping the list of most-connected countries, places, industries and job functions – Human Resources holds the reign there.
