Fast rising Highlife and Afropop artiste, Koby Symple has told showbiz that the use of the term “Kotoko” in his new single, Osookoo,
has to his surprise, earned him criticism from some section of the public. Speaking to Koby Symple on Wednesday, he revealed that after releasing his song, he received many unsavory calls and comments from sections of the public who felt his usage of Kotoko in the song is derogatory and an affront to the soccer team of the same name.
The Adisa hitmaker, however, explained that  in the song Osookoo, he is telling the story of what  happened when his love interest visits him and just when he is expecting to spend some quality time with her, he realises that it is that time of the month for
her, hence the use of the term Kotoko.  “I received calls and comments on various social  media platforms that some were not comfortable with my usage of the name of the revered soccer team Kotoko to equate menstruation.” he said.
“There is no malice intended in my use of Kotoko, in fact, I love the Asante Kotoko team. Kotoko is a  street term which is used among the young people in  the country so it’s not like I invented it. I urge the public to listen to the song which is available  online, in order to appreciate the beauty of the song, Osookoo is a funny, party song with a very dance-able tune and its bound to be the next street anthem, he said.
He announced that he is going all out this year and  plans to release about five singles this year. “I am still trying to get Sarkodie to shoot the video  of my hit single Adisa but regardless this year is going  to be a very big one for my brand,” he said.
