Ghanaian-British business and technology executive, Lucy Quist, has shared some personal achievements that she is proud of, aside being the first Ghanaian female CEO of a telecommunications company.
During an interview with Rev. Erskine on the Y-Leaderboard Series which airs on Y107.9fm, she mentioned that one of her proudest moments is when her company worked closely with an engineering team to build a private connectivity between Ghana, Togo and Burkina Faso.
“That was a great feat for us as a company because it meant that suddenly, these three countries can now connect directly via fiber. This involved engaging their ministries because you don’t connect your fiber to another country without going to speak to their ministry of communication, their minister, regulator and so on”, she said.
Lucy continued that the background to that achievement was her going to Ouagadougou to meet and speak to the right people and to her, the fact that they could work across countries in that pan-African way in two languages was something to be proud of.
“I was very proud that this connectivity was actually a really big deal for the region”, she added.
According to Lucy, there are other achievements or moments that she is proud of, however, it is not more about the moment but rather the people she got to work with who have also gone forth to do more amazing things in their careers.
“I’m very proud that we managed to grow together and to build our careers so that the time that we had together wasn’t the end but the beginning of more things to come in the future”.
