Managing Director of Diamond Capital Investments (DCI) Microfinance, Selasie Woanyah, has shared the one important thing he has learnt working in the field of finance.
In an interview with Rev. Erskine on the Y-Leaderboard Series on Y107.9FM, Mr. Woanyah stated that aggressiveness is one thing he learnt in the field that is still helping his career.
“You need to be aggressive but in a good way and not stepping on toes. That means not waiting for things to come to you but going out there and making things happen for yourself and for people around you. That for me, is the most important lesson I’ve learnt over the last sixteen years”.
“Good things don’t come to those who wait. Good things come to those who go out there and go for it. Some of these quotes we hear are counterproductive or counter-intuitive because you can’t wait for good things to come to you. You need to work for it and negotiate”, he added.
Mr. Woanyah further explained that negotiation means being aggressive against the things that would want to impede one’s progress. “Going out there and arguing your way with people, negotiating through the impediments in your way, not taking no for an answer, that’s being aggressive”, he reiterated.
“If you visit a client or prospect with a proposal and he tells you no, you go back tomorrow and he tells you no, go back a thousand times. If you feel that prospect has something good for you, keep going until you get it”.
According to him, this aggression, dedication and passion to a single purpose is what has influenced his career over the last 16years and that is something everyone should learn.
