Multiple award-winning rapper, Medikal, has opened up about the one thing he experienced in jail that he believes will be his torment for the rest of his life.
In an interview with Rev. Erskine on the Myd-Morning Radio Show, he recalled that having an encounter with people who shared sad stories about how they ended up there and knowing that some may be innocent but may never get out, is something that will haunt him for life.
“I was just feeling bad that I might not see these people again and I don’t have their contacts because they don’t use phones in there. For the rest of my life, the only thing that will torment me is knowing that there are brothers in there who are suffering and might never even come out. That is what I was thinking about but that’s life and sometimes, things are like that. I think most of them are hard so they will fight and come out victorious”, he said.
Medikal disclosed that it was a very sad part of his jail experience and even Shatta was crying the whole time.
Also speaking about why he decided to plead guilty after a series of trials, Medikal told Rev. Erskine that he was simply tired and wanted that phase of his life to come to an end as soon as possible.
“I was tired because I had to wake up early in the morning around 4am and get ready so that I don’t have to be in traffic because I wanted to be on time. I was just tired that why am I even doing this? I say not guilty and the case gets postponed to another date like I’m some hardened criminal. I just wanted to plead guilty and let whatever would happen to happen”, he lamented.
Medikal told YFM that he was ready for whatever punishment that the court wanted to give him because he was just tired of the fact that he was being stressed.
“God being so good, the judge punished me in the form of me paying a fine but at least the case is over. I’m not going to be stressed and get my wife and family and mom, my sister and my friends all the time thinking of what was going to happen. They were all scared all the time so I’m very happy that chapter is over”, Medikal concluded.
Rapper, Medikal, was remanded in prison custody for five days after he was arrested for brandishing a gun on social media. He was in jail together with dancehall king, Shatta Wale, who was also arrested and remanded for fabricating a story on Monday, October 18, that he had been shot and was receiving treatment, which turned out to be a hoax.
