Founding President and Executive Dean of Nobel International Business School, Professor Kwaku Atuahene-Gima has attributed his high level of tolerance to time spent at the Mfantsipim Senior High School for his A-level.
The educationist gained admission into Mfantsipim when the principal of the school where he acquired his O-level certificate did not believe in him, and his dad also seemed disinterested in his education.
Being the first and only one of 12 siblings to have acquired education beyond secondary school, Professor Kwaku Atuahene-Gima was elated sharing his experience at Mfantsipim.
“At Mfantsipim, lots of the students had acquired foreign experience and it was a fun time in my life. I made a lot of friends. We were in a military regime at the time and we had a lot of discussions about Ghana. One learnt to appreciate the views of the other students, especially those with more foreign experience and that was where I learnt my activism,” he told Rev Erskine on the YLeaderboard Series aired on Y107.9FM’s Myd Morning Radio Show.
Comparing his days at Senior High School to now, he admits there is a vast difference which can be associated with the development of Ghana and the world as a whole.
He however cited relationships as a constant. “But one thing stays constant and that is the ability to build relations, with the key being the ability to learn from each other. Now this has been made better with the advent of social media because they can constantly be in touch with each other even on vacations.”
