Residents in and around the Adenta municipality, woke up to a beautiful sight on Saturday, 7th January 2023 when two artists in the neighborhood, used their celebrity status for good by championing a cause that affects everyday life in the community.
Fontom and Scata Bada, the artists of the Fifty 50 Music Group, mobilized the youth in the slums of Adenta to come out in their numbers to clean and sanitize the community.
The exercise included the cleaning of gutters, weeding, sweeping, gathering and disposing of refuse, among others. The volunteers, who were mainly fans and youth from the slums took it upon themselves to support the Fifty 50 music group to clean their community.
To ensure that the exercise was done effectively, without any health or environmental problems, Zoomlion was contracted to lead the youth in the clean-up.
Studies have shown that poor sanitation is linked to the transmission of diarrhoeal diseases such as cholera and dysentery, as well as typhoid, intestinal worm infections and polio. Diarrhoea remains a major killer but is largely preventable. Potable drinking water, good sanitation, and proper hygiene could prevent the deaths of 297,000 children, aged under 5 years each year, according to the UN.
In a conversation with Fontom, one of the duo, he expressed how good of an idea it is to always give back to society and ensuring a clean-environment was the best way. He advocated for the need to keep the surroundings clean and tidy, as the health of the people is reflected through this. He further admonished the youth not to throw rubbish indiscriminately to help prevent diseases.
Later in the evening of January 7th, a massive road block outdoor concert was organized, which saw music lovers thrilled by fellow artists like Ras Kuku, Jah Lead, Dogo, JaySO and other budding talents in the region.
The concert had a massive turn out of audiences from Adenta, Madina, School Junction, East Legon Hills and other neighboring areas and saw dignitaries such as Dr. Emmanuel Addipa Adapoe, member of the Covid-19 Management and Rapid Response Team, GARH and Mr. Cecil Senna Nutakor – Founder/CEO eCampus LLC take the platform to educate and empower the youth.
Fifty 50 tells us this is only the beginning of major campaigns they have planned for the near future and this was just an act to show love for the support their fans have shown them through the past year.
Until then, listen to their music across all steaming platforms as they get ready to release their upcoming album later in 2023, which will be available through their website www.fifty50musicgroup.com
