Ghanaian disc jockey, Michelle Nana Adwoa Agyakomah Yeboah, identified in the music industry as TMSKDJ, has disclosed that her mask plays a major role in every gig she is billed to perform at.
The Ghanaian talent in an X space held by YFM to commemorate International Women’s Month, mentioned that even though there are underlying factors that contributed to building her brand as a masked DJ, it gradually became a part of her personality.
“There are three reasons for when it comes to why I wear a mask; I had to effect a change in the music I was playing at gigs; I felt a bit uncomfortable about a male DJ I met at one gig and I was very shy; besides, most of the DJs I looked up to were all anonymous, so I decided to become like my role models.” she explained.
She indicated that the brand ever since, has played a pivotal role in giving her the recognition she has now and sets her apart from the rest of the world anytime she gets into her groove mode. “It was basically a way to create my own world as a DJ; just to create my own bubble and be in my own world and do my thing.”
The X space conversation themed , ‘Invest in Women, Accelerate Progress’, gathered influential and passionate women empowerment activist to deliberate on how women can be acknowledged properly and be given the appropriate conditions to also succeed and make strides in society.
