Celebrated Ghanaian dancer and dance trainer Michael Amofa, better known as incredible Zigi in the Ghanaian entertainment industry has revealed that his parents were not supportive of his talent and wanted him to take another career path instead of dancing.
These revelations seem to be common among most Ghanaian celebrities in the entertainment industry including Zigi’s colleague dancer Dancegod Lloyd.
Incredible Zigi in a recent interview with Kojo Manuel on Y 107.9 FM during the ‘Dryve of your Lyfe’ show made these revelations, saying he had no option but to focus on school because of his family relations and educated professionals in his family.
“Growing up my parents wanted me to be more focused on my schooling and become an architect. We had a lot of educated professionals in our family so we or personally I had no option but to focus on my education and pursue the dancing career later”, he said.
Speaking about how his parents allowed him to pursue his dreams, the “Kupe” dance originator explained that his dad and family gave him the necessary support after they realized he could make money from “moving his body”.
“My parents had to permit me to pursue my dancing career after my first breakthrough in Nigeria. I participated in a dance challenge and I qualified to be part of a video shoot, I was paid $500.00 and they were shocked at the amount I had for just moving my body for a shorter period and my dad supported me after”, he added.
Incredible Zigi is currently one of Ghana’s best dancers with credits for numerous dance steps including Pilolo, Kupe and Ena. He is currently a brand ambassador for Woodin and a brand influencer for Guinness as well.
