Ghanaian US-based singer and beats producer Nektunez has finally let the cat out of the bag and disclosed how he made his global record hit ‘Ameno Amapiano’.

The song which eventually became the theme song of the Christmas activities and popular terms every social media fanatic used in their moods of celebration after its release has broken global music records on social media and streaming platforms with over 72.8 million streams.

The record maker Nektunez, who also doubles as a songwriter in a recent interview on Y 107.9 FM’s ‘Dryve of your Lyfe’ show with Kojo Manuel explained how he coincidentally had a flashback of a popular video he watched on TV in his childhood days which led him to create his record hit.

“So I was supposed to release an EP called ‘Amapiano & Soul’, initially it had four songs on it without ‘Ameno’, that’s ‘Believe Amapiano’ which was resampled versions of old school tunes fusing them with Amapiano and Afro dance instrumentals, other songs on the EP was ‘In the 89’ amapiano, ‘No woman, no cry’ amapiano, ‘Killing me softly’ amapiano. So, I was going to release these four tracks and the very day I was going to distribute it, I had a flashback.”

“I remembered some videos I used to watch on the TV when I was a kid and heard them say ‘Dorime …Dorime’. So, I went back to YouTube and typed in ‘Dorime’ and found out that the title was not ‘Dorime’, but ‘Ameno’. So I took the performance video, extracted the audio, tweaked it and sampled it with the Amapiano vibe.”

“The day I was supposed to release the EP was the same day I made ‘Ameno Amapiano’, after that I just added it to the EP and distributed it,” he said.

Adding to it, Nektunez who is also identified as Noble disclosed that he had confidence in his ‘Ameno’ tune and made it the lead song on his EP.

‘Ameno Amapiano’ became the lead song I was promoting on the EP because I had confidence in it and new it was a global tune,” he added.
