Hip-hop music group, NSG (Never Stop Growing), have talked about how their success in music has changed their lives individually.
Interviewed on the Dryve of Your Lyfe with Kojo Manuel and DJ Mic Smith on Y107.9FM, they mentioned that ultimately, things have changed in their bank accounts thanks to their musical success.
Individually, Papii Abz stated that their success in music has made him wearier of everything around him, hence, it’s harder to get into his space now.
“Obviously, as you succeed more and you get more of everything, you start questioning people around you so it kinda makes you wearier”, he said.
Kruddz continued that there are a lot of positives and negatives that come with their job as artistes, however, he believes that it is a blessing that they are doing what they love and saying stuff that is becoming a reality.
“People are taking our creativity and taking who we are as well because I feel like we are original and authentic enough and people are appreciating that. The UK is a place where people are stuck to what they know so to break free with a different sound and for people to take us for who we are, I think it’s a huge blessing especially for a place like the UK”, he expunged.
For ODG, he mentioned that his life has always been more music dedicated and he is always in the studio, thus his biggest change is probably the fact that he is widely recognized due to his music.
“Life has been good. Before we were doing music, man would have to grind as well but now, at least man can focus on music fully and that’s a blessing”, Mojo added.
They shared the negative aspect of being NSG, saying that especially on Twitter people like to come at them for whatever they do, be it good or bad, and this is sometimes very frustrating for them.
They said, “anything we do, people talk, good or bad, rain or shine, I’m not exaggerating, Twitter loves to say our name. That’s the only thing that’s a bit frustrating sometimes because we’re human beings at the end of the day and sometimes it’s just too much. Sometimes you say something and people take it out of context just for the fact that you’re NSG. That’s the negative part that we don’t really like”.
NSG is a rap collective of East Londoners originally of Nigerian and Ghanaian descent. The group consists of Kruddz, Mxjib, Mojo, OGD, Dope and Papii Abz, and they specialise in Afro-bashment. They released their first single Whine and Kotch in December 2013 and also became the first-ever Number 1 on the Official UK Afrobeats Chart when the Official Charts Company-compiled chart launched in July 2020.
