Emmanuel Asare better known as Slim Buster in entertainment circles is a Ghanaian-born songwriter and music producer. He broke on to the entertainment industry in 1986 after winning the 1986 National Dance Championship competition.
Slim Buster after some time moved from Ghana to settle in the United Kingdom to study music and music production. He returned to Ghana after his education and decided to pursue music as a full-time career. He established his music recording studio in Accra to help produce his songs.
Slim Buster released his maiden album in 1998; the album, however, did not meet the expectations of Slim Buster and his team. He later discovered that the album did not conform to the trend and genre of music in the country at that time and realized he needed to put in much effort.
He released his second album titled ‘Masanaba’ in 2000 which became an instant hit. In a bid to solidify his career in Ghana, he followed up with another studio album ‘Eye Fe Keke’ in 2001. The album featured his hit track ‘Mina’.
Slim Buster in 2002 released a single, Baby, which won the best video award at the 2002 Ghana Music Awards. He later came out with his ‘Marsherita’ album which caught on very well with Ghanaians and won the best Hiplife Dance Choreography award at the Royal Awards.
Slim Buster after joining the Ghanaian music industry proved his worth and chalked great successes. His hard work and remarkable dance skills made him a household name in Ghana.
Slim Buster has served as a judge on various singing and dancing competitions including Nescafe African Revelation, Dance Fever, and Malta Guinness Street Dance Africa. His 2008 release, I Feel Like Chicken Tonight is already enjoying lots of airplay on radio and TV.
He left Ghana in 2017 after complaining of the frequent power outages in the country and the amount of money he was spending on electricity.
