R2Bees was on YFM‘s Ryse N Shyne with Ms Naa and DJ Loft to talk about their latest album ‘Site 15’.
Omar Sterling widely known as PaeDae reminiscing about the early days of the group in Site 15 recounted when they were disappointed when a gentleman who promised to record their first album failed them.
PaeDae told Miss Naa;
“When we were kids in Site 15, there was this gentleman who is now a good friend of ours. He use to frequent London a lot and a big brother of ours called Zaddour introduced us to to him and he promised to record our first album for us.
“The whole album was going to cost 800 old Ghana Cedis. That’s like GHc80 now and he promised us to come for the money on Friday. We told the guy who was running the studio at the time, Yaw Boakye, that we were coming to pay the 80 Ghana Cedis and record the whole album.
“At the time, it was Camp Yard and Z Clan and R2Bees was Camp Yard. The other squad was Z Clan and they were very hard guys. Z Clan had an album out and they had videos and were on TV and all that.
“The Friday came and we went to get the Money but we could not find Fista. Then we checked with Zaddour and later on found out that Fista had left for London again. I have never been sad in my life like I was on that day.
That was the saddest day in my life. Because Fista didn’t give us the money, we were still broke in Site 15 and 3 years later we made our own money to record our own records.
