Chief Operating Officer (COO) of mPharma, Sophia Baah, has advised career women to “do the best job wherever they find themselves and they will be elevated.”
Preferring to use the word “work” which needs to be done by women to get to the top over “sacrifices”, she advised women against simply aspiring. “I don’t like to use the word sacrifices women have to make to get to the top. It is what work needs to be done and that takes us to the top. For me it is not about waking up today and saying I want to be a leader. It is about you doing the best job wherever you find yourself and you’ll be elevated.”
Using some women in mPharma to buttress her point, she added, “there are some amazing women at mPharma, these young women have just worked hard and they’ve been rewarded so it is not just about I want to be a leader.”
To her, successful career women are those who execute their mandate effectively and efficiently, making the outcome or output speak for them. “The outcome of your work should scream leader so whatever opportunity it is that presents itself, take is and deliver and all other things will follow.”
Speaking to Y107.9FM’s Rev Erskine, host of the Myd Morning Radio Show on the Yleaderboard Series, she reiterated that for her, success is not about sacrifices but hard work and a planned life.
“Have a plan for every decision you take and that makes your progress easier because you have an anchor. So every decision you take in life will take you towards the attainment of that dream,” she added.
