Rashad McCrorey has made history as the first Black American to be enstooled as Nsrahwehen (Tourism Chief) of Iture in Elmina. Now a member of the Iture Royal Family, the American tour operator bears the stool name Nana Kofi Kukudurfo I. His enstoolment is an honor bestowed unto him by the Iture Royal Family for his work since 2020. Held on April 23, his enstoolment comes after weeks of consultations, community meetings, and rituals.
Ever since his relocation to Ghana and joining the Royal family of Iture in 2020, Rashad has been an active member of the Royal Family, performing his duties faithfully. A punctual attendant of monthly family meetings, Rashad had always paid his family dues, contributed to the funeral funds, and carried his Family card with pride.
Nana Kofi Kukudurfo I
His stool name, Nana Kofi Kukudurfo I, symbolizes his braveness, strength, and courage. Rashad displayed courage when he decided to stay in Ghana instead of returning to the United States at the peak of the coronavirus pandemic. Rashad was in Ghana celebrating the 6th March festivities when travel restrictions and border closures began across the globe.
As Chief of Tourism, Rashad McCrorey will be promoting tourism in the Village of Iture and the Town of Elmina. Beyond taking people to tourist sites, Rashad intends to contribute to the village of Iture and the towns of Elmina in the areas of infrastructure, education, and health services. McCrorey believes tourism is more than taking people around from place to place. It involves planning, budgeting, marketing, branding, security, and financing.

McCrorey is the owner of Africa Cross-Culture, a tourism company specializing in trips to Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Rwanda, and Uganda. His recent enstoolment saw him earn a spot as a member of the Edina Traditional Council by Elmina Paramount Chief Nana Kojo Cuando the VI. The traditional ruler also stated, that Rashad, will be gazetted in the National Books of Chief.
