Communications manager of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Moses Antwi Benefo has called on the supporters to rely on official publications on the club’s communication channels for accurate and official information about the team and disregard consistent rumours in the media.
There have been numerous unconfirmed reports recently about Asante Kotoko which unveiled its new management team that has been tasked to make Kotoko an economically viable entity among other set targets for the next three years.
This many believe, affects the club’s quest of communicating accurate information to the supporters who mostly rely on ‘unofficial’ publications on the club. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Stephen Zando on Kumasi based YFM, Moses Antwi Benefo known in the media space as PJ Mozee called on the supporters not to believe everything seen online about the club.
According to the experienced sports journalist who now serves as the communications manager of the Porcupine Warriors, the only way to curb the sensational untrue stories peddled in the media on Kotoko is for the stakeholders to rely on communications from the club’s official media outlets.
“That’s what the media want to do, that’s the style they want to adopt, sensationalism, rumour peddling, issues without cross-checking or without substance, that’s the tangent they want to go so no problem.” He said.
“But we as a club, what we intend doing is, any official information we want to communicate to our stakeholders, i.e. our supporters, the media, our partners and our sponsors, we will take it through our official digital space.
“It will pass through our pages on Facebook, YouTube, Instagram, Twitter and then we have the Kotoko application portal as well.
“We are also working behind the scenes to see how we can get the Kotoko Express back, if it comes back, then it will make our communication channels a complete one then, we can apply our communication policy fully.
“We are calling on our stakeholders that, they should not rely on information that is bundled in the media, they should rely on the information that we put in our digital space, social media outlets, that’s where we put our official publications or if you get it from any of the management members, then that becomes upright information.
“So if it comes from any other channel, not from our official channel, then you can’t take it as a piece of information that’s true”. He finished.
