French Ambassador to Ghana, Her Excellency Anne Sophie Avè, has disclosed that, every sporting activity helps one to achieve some form of discipline.
Being an ardent gymnast, she shared, “I was very active in gymnastics until I felt I was too old to continue.”
Talking to Rev. Eskine on Y 107.9FM’s Y Leaderboard Series, she said, “Being a gymnast has taught me discipline. Every sport you practice when you are young has to teach you discipline.”
Using gymnastics as an example to highlight the importance and how discipline is imbued in sports people, she stated, “If you do crazy things you’ll just fall of the beam and break your legs.”
She also mentioned being successful in sports involves a lot of training and practice, the birth of discipline.
“What I loved about gymnastics was that it was very technical and it’s hard work but then, what gives you great applause in competition is when it looks effortless at the end of the day,” she shared.
She emphasized that, she also loved it when the performance and what was presented flowed effortlessly, with audience thinking it easy when a lot of hard work was put in.
According to her, all these made it an educative experience for her and till date, she has kept that sense of trying again and again. She keeps rehearsing and working out even when “intellectually I never feel that I’m ready so you just work a lot behind the scenes.”
