Ghanaian actress and socialite Andrea Owusu, popularly known as Efia Odo has heavily criticized the Ghanaian government on the order of mandatory COVID vaccination for citizens and individuals travelling into the country.
The announcement of the vaccination by the Ghana Health Service on December 9 has since garnered much controversy and talk on both social and traditional media. Notable personalities have been very involved in the conversation, either condemning or applauding the decision.
The actress also went on her Twitter page to share her concerns, she expressed worry about the mandatory vaccination policy. She also stated that Malaria had killed more people than COVID-19, but much attention was given to the disease but rather COVID-19.
“Malaria has killed more people than COVID 19 (approximately 20,000 people yearly) but they’re mandating us to take a vaccine. Taking a vaccine should be a personal choice and not a mandatory decision. Guess I’m stuck in Ghana cuz I’m not taking any disapproved vaccine,” the post read.
Other celebrities and media personalities including Bridget Otoo and the National Communications Director of the NDC have all kicked against the mandatory vaccination policy.
