Korle Gonno-based dance collective, Team Hubes have emerged as the winner of the DanceSport League at the Street Dance Fiesta of the Ghana Dance Festival in Accra.
Team Hubes claimed the title as the best street dance crew in Ghana after beating off competition from Sunyani-based United Kings to win the biggest prize on the night.
The event held at the Alliance Francais in Accra on Saturday, October 5, 2024, had 6 competing teams namely 4 Bents, Asa Academy, Flames Dance Company, Bas Academy, United Kings and Team Hubes.
Hughes after winning the ultimate walked away with GH₵4000 cedis while defeated finalist United Kings were compensated with GH₵2000.
4 Bents were declared as the winners in the third place battle with GH₵1000 as their competitors Asa Academy didn’t show up for the battle.
Team Hughes have now become first winner of the DanceSports League in the 10th anniversary of the Ghana Dance Festival powered by DanceSport Ghana in association with Dancers, DanceSport Association of Ghana and Dancetera.
Robert Klah, the founder of the Ghana Dance Festival said the passion of the dancers and their partners have kept the program running for the past 10 years.
The passion and support from dancers has been very helpful all these years. It also good platform for children to be involved in active dancing because many older people say they use to dance as kids but didn’t we get the opportunity but now such opportunities are available.”
