Ghanaian highlife musician and rapper, Martin King Arthur, known within the music space as Kofi Kinaata, has identified the content of his songs as the reason behind his back-to-back hits.
Speaking to Haruna Babaginda, host of Y97.9FM’s Reggae Republic, Kinaata acknowledged that to make hits as an artiste, there are certain messages your music must portray. However, he highlighted that he decides to let the messages his songs carry, differ from the ordinary messages placed in a song. “With what I do as a musician, ideally the messages placed in the songs is what makes them a hit. But the messages I place in my songs to make hits are not ordinary.” he explained.
During the interview, Kofi stated that the probabilities of his songs not making hits are innumerable especially present-day music preferences which do not include songs with so much advise.
Kofi Kinaata disclosed that he makes intentional efforts to give his listeners a relatable experience anytime they listen to his music and content they can get solutions from even as they enjoy it. These he added were reasons diverse kinds of people enjoy his music. “I would not want to say I aim to make sense, but I want my songs to always have content; relatable content as a matter of fact. Which is why many elderly people enjoy my music; they always get something from it even as they enjoy.”
