The Chief Executive Officer of the Hollard Group in Ghana, Mrs Patience E. Akyianu, has shared that the motivating factor in her journey in the banking sector has been her cherished value of stewardship.
In an interview with YFM’s Rev. Erskine on the Y Leaderboard Series, she shared: “One of my greatest value is stewardship: which is whatever your hands finds to do, do it to the best of your ability and leave things better always than you find them”.
According to her, exerting herself in whatever she finds to do has opened many doors for her.
“I realized that your hardwork is normally rewarded and I found that a lot of the times people recommended me. Many of the roles that I had for example, before I became CFO at Standard Chartered Johannesburg I was a finance controller. My boss recommended me as Chief Financial Officer (CFO). I didn’t even have to go for any interview”, she added.
She reiterated the importance of stewardship when she stated “I realized stewardship actually speaks for you. When you are able to demonstrate that the little that you are given you are able to take care of it excellently, you are given the opportunity to do the next big thing and that has kept me going on and on through out my career”.
Patience is a very experienced and well-rounded business leader with strong commercial acumen and has over 26 years’ experience in Banking and Finance having spent the recent 17 years in the banking industry before joining the Insurance Industry in October 2018.
