Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Charter House, Theresa Ayoade has offered sound advice to young women who are hoping to achieve greater things in life by stating that women must go through a journey rather than seek for shortcuts in life.
She made these comments in an interview with Rev.Erskine on the Y Leaderboard Series of the Myd Morning Radio show.
“We really want them to understand the hard work that goes into getting to where you want to be. There is no shortcut. Most importantly is that you will get there with little steps so don’t rush to get it all now. Take your time. Take it step by step. Achieve your little milestones and you will get there. So if you see me here it is because I took a journey and I am here now. Your journey starts now so take your time and take it step by step. Look for somebody to mentor and just keep going.
As a member of the Executive Women Network and Convener for the National Women Conference, Theresa Ayoade has shown her commitment to developing the younger generation of women by organizing mentoring activities for young women.
Speaking on such initiatives she noted, “We are really worried and concerned about the portrayal of women especially through social media where we have a lot of these slay queens; a lot of these ladies splashing quick acquisitions. We want to encourage and share our stories. You don’t have to flaunt your body, you don’t have to wait for a man to do something for you. As a woman, you are innately blessed and you can go out there to carve your own path.
We do a lot of sessions and engagements to keep the conversation going. On my part, I established the National Women’s show, the National Women’s Conference because I really wanted to create a huge platform for women to have big conversations about womanhood”.
Theresa Ayoade was of the view that mentoring these young women in their teenage years will have a great impact on their lives because these years are the formative years that will shape their personality.
“Like I keep saying my years at Achimota School really impacted my life. They brought speakers to motivate and inspire us. And you know that in your teenage years, you are in your formative years and curious about the world. That is a very fertile period when you are watered well and guided right, it will provide a very strong foundation that really guides you”, she added.
