About 7 months after versatile Ghanaian musician Enoch Nana Yaw Oduro- Agyei, known in showbiz as Trigmatic founded the Matic Music Club, the club has been able to make some strides.
For the past few days, Matic Music Club has been engaged in several activities to project their cause.
After visiting some schools in Accra to take their pupils through music lessons, the club in collaborations with their partners from the Global Leaders Program in Spain, held a forum at Impact Hub in Accra to discuss the importance of music education in our schools push music education as a national agenda.
At the programme, Trigmatic admonished the general public, the media and institutions to put all hands on deck to ensure that arts, especially music becomes more attractive and effective in our schools.
“This is an initiative I have started to help in educating children on music. It is a non profit-making venture. So we plead on individuals to help in any way they can,” he pleaded.
The Matic Music Club is an after School club for kids to grow their love for music and to help in their mental development as well.
“There are times they have mentoring sessions, field trips to studios and have had the opportunity to engage stakeholders like guitarist Ackah Blay to help mentor these children.
At the programme, Ackah urged the media to help document the great musicians and music heritage of Ghana before others lay claim of them.
There was also an open forum session for patrons of the programme (largely media and stakeholders of the music industry) to share their thoughts on the subject.
In an interview with Kwame Agyemang Berko, manager of Trigmatic, he said what Trigmatic has embarked on gives him hope that the arts will get better.
“When I see what my artist has initiated with his scant resources and no support from any government agency or cooperate Ghana, it gives me hope that it is possible for us to improve the arts and especially music, by ourselves. If there is any doubt as to what is possible or not, I say look at Trigmatic and emulate his social response to his nation,” he stated.
He said they were open to individuals or organisations who would like to partner and start their own Matic Music Clubs in their schools.
