The 20th edition of the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) was marred in the early hours of Sunday, 19 May 2019 when fans of dancehall artiste Stonebwoy and Shatta Wale engaged in a scuffle over an award.
A melee erupted on the stage when Stonebwoy was announced as the Reggae Dancehall Artiste of the Year.
Stonebwoy reportedly pulled a gun on stage while the security present sprayed pepper in the auditorium in an attempt to prevent a full-blown fight.
Patrons had to run out of the auditorium as they could not breath due to the pepper.
The show continued after some break.
