Senior Journalist, Mildred Siabi-Mensah, has tipped young women on how they can succeed in their career as journalists.
In an interview with Y97.9FM’s Chelsy Sey on the ‘Ryse N Shyne’ show, she admitted that beginning a career in journalism may not be all rosy. However, with the right things done, one can make it to the top.
“The Bible says we should study to show our work as a workman and this is the trade we have chosen. As a young lady if you want to pursue journalism, it is all about knowledge. Knowledge and truth are the stabilities of our time. So the more you acquire knowledge, the more you become good in your area and you can do it well. So give yourself to studies, give yourself to good works and the reward will follow suit”, she advised.
Exemplifying her point, she shared her experience of how she had to put in so much effort to rise through the ranks as a chief reporter.
“When I started this profession, it wasn’t easy. I have risen through the ranks to become a chief reporter. I was not looking at what I could get from whoever. I stuck to what I believed in and I trusted my instincts that it will work.
Rising through the ranks, things have improved and now whatever I think I want to buy for myself I can buy it so the situations may not be good initially but you look at the broader picture and it shall be well”, she added.
Mildred Mensah-Siabi is a well known Senior Journalist who has done an extensive work in the media for close to 17 years.
