Organizers of the 14th edition of the Radio and Television Personality (RTP) Awards have revealed that YFM, Ghana’s no.1 urban radio station, has been nominated for the highly coveted “Radio Station of the Year” award.
The prestigious event is scheduled to take place on December 27, 2023, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
The RTP Awards aim to recognize and celebrate outstanding media personalities and brands that contribute significantly to entertaining, inspiring and shaping the Ghanaian society. This year, the awards will span across more than 40 categories, honouring excellence in both traditional and new media platforms.
YFM, known for its dynamic and youth-centric approach, has made a profound impact on the Ghanaian airwaves. Broadcasting on triangular dials, including 107.9 Mhz in Accra, 97.9 Mhz in Takoradi, and 102.5 Mhz in Kumasi, YFM has established itself as the go-to radio frequency for young Ghanaians who are imaginative, curious, and ambitious.
Under the review period, YFM reintroduced the highly sought-after Area Codes Jam, Ghana’s premier non-ticketed community-based concert. This initiative aims to provide underground artists with essential exposure while established artists contribute to society by giving back to their roots.
Furthermore, YFM has inspired the youth through its flagship initiative, “The Y Leaderboard Series.” Introduced as a segment on the “Myd Morning Radio Show,” this initiative focuses on developing and inspiring the youth by hosting leaders and achievers from various industries in Ghana and beyond.
Since its inception in May 2020, the weekly show has featured leaders in politics, entertainment, telecommunications, sports, hospitality, events management, education, entrepreneurship, and more. The diverse range of guests has provided avid listeners with a multitude of inspiring stories and insights.
YFM’s radio programmes including the “Ryse n Shyne” morning show, “Myd Morning Radio Show” and the “Dryve of Your Lyfe” have all received nominations at the 14th edition of the RTP Awards. While both Kojo Manuel and Rev Erskine have also been nominated for radio host personalities.
