Kumasi’s biggest urban radio station YFM 102.5 is once again providing the platform for young and upcoming musicians in the Ashanti Region to receive quality career and branding advice from seasoned artistes and professionals which will ultimately groom them to be unrivaled in the increasingly competitive music industry in Ghana.
The seminar which is in partnership with OK Music and other stakeholders will see the rap doctor, Okyeame Kwame himself and other music gurus in attendance to offer guidance to young musicians, producers, artiste managers and persons passionate about music with the maiden seminar themed ‘Over Ground Music Seminar.’
Organizers of the seminar made known that, “Renowned Ghanaian musician and creative director Okyeame Kwame will join the seminar as the main speaker, and from a practical standpoint, attendees will explore how to strategically position themselves in the music market to excel.”
They divulged that the workshop happening on the 21st of March at the SNITT Conference Hall in Adum at 2pm will educate, inform and take participants through a variety of strategies in the creative process of music production.
Programs Manager of Y102.5FM, Kumasi, Nathaniel Osei Kuffuor (Mahony) commenting about the initiative said, “This is something we’ve been planning to bring to Kumasi for a while now. We realized that there are a lot musical talents here in Kumasi but have never had the breakthrough they deserve because they were never mentored. I believe that the Over The Ground Seminar will be a springboard to mainstream music for artistes emerging from the Ashanti region.
He added that the collaboration was done with OK Music and Okyeame Kwame in particular because of the proximity. “We brought Okyeame Kwame on board because most of these Ashanti youngsters can relate with him. He is a typical success story from the region and he being there stands to prove the point that Kumasi can make global music icons. He will also present relatable facts and examples of music history and music appreciation, exploring the worlds (both the past present) of different sounds and genres.
