Richard Yeboah Sarkodie popularly known as DJ Edita who joined Y97.9Fm as a DJ two years ago, after he emerged as a winner of Y97.9fm Takoradi’s exclusive Radio reality Show ‘Y DISCOVERY’ which was meant to unearth great Talent i.e. presenters and DJ’s, Graduated over the weekend with first class honor.
DJ Edita started his disk Jockey journey about 10years ago by working with chorus sounds, a company based in Accra who are into renting of sounds for events and he was to play for you if the sounds are rented. Because of his hard work and dedication he was able to work with his boss for 10years. And even till date that he is no more with chorus sounds, whenever there is any gig, he is connected.
Four years ago, he had admission to Takoradi Technical University where he read HND in Interior Design and Technology. During his stay on campus he was tagged as the Best Campus DJ since he was always found disk jockeying at all campus events. What even boosted his brand the more was after He emerged as a winner in the maiden edition of the radio reality Show “Y DISCOVERY”. After working with Y97.9fm for a while he has totally grown from just an event DJ to a proper and a well branded Urban Radio DJ.
On November 25, 2017, a graduation ceremony was held on TTU campus, and fortunately for him he was honored with 1stclass in Interior Design and Technology. The interesting bit of it was the applause and screams that came up, after his name was mentioned by the vice chancellor Rev Prof Eshun before the entire congregation. All this eluded because it came as a surprise to all the student and the graduants who were there i.e. people who are into entertainment and show business on campus are mostly tagged as none serious students. DJ edita totally defiled the Odds.
Dj Edita’s dream is to become the best DJ in Ghana and also go into serious sound Engineering because he wants to work with the likes of swizz Beatz one day. Alongside run his own company in Interior designs.
He is currently having his National service on TTU campus and also the official DJ for Friday Night Mix and Y Campus Express which airs on Y97.9fm on Friday 8pm till 12am and on Saturday at 12pm to 3pm respectively. He is also into music. Current single is Chop Chop feat Jaqson. His handle on all platforms is DJJ Edita.
