Renowned Ghanaian Highlife artiste Bernard George Kobena Brako, known professionally as Ben Brako, has shared how the Ghanaian economy has not only failed creatives but majority of Ghanaians.
He disclosed this during an interview on YFM’s Myd Morning Show with Host Rev Erskine, stating that Ghana’s political system is alien to its own citizen. “In all honesty, sometimes the government acts as if it’s an enemy of its own people due to the nature of its governance.”
Mr. Brako explained, “These people came and instituted their own system and imposed it on their own people”. The government we have does not work with the culture of the people. So sometimes it looks like the people are a nuisance.
“If our leaders revered our customs, culture, and traditional system, most of the malicious activities such as galamsey would not be rampant and acceptable by our leaders” he said.
“When you visit the rural areas ,there is no government helping them rather they extort and take from them. It is the traditional leaders that provide for their people. They know where to go to when they have issues that need to be addressed and that is culture and the understanding of our people” he added.
