Ghanaian neo-soul singer, Jane Afia Boafowaa Awindor, identified in the music fraternity as Efya Nokturnal has expressed her views on what success means as a musician.
In an interview on Y107.9FM’s Ryse NShyne with host Brown Berry x Dj Loft, Efya identified making good music for her fans as her purpose and also emphasized on how dedicated she is in fulfilling her purpose. “This is my way of fulfilling my purpose; to also give the percentage I have to give for the life I was given; that’s the whole point. When you find your purpose you should take it serious.”
The eclectic songwriter acknowledged her purpose as one that can only be fulfilled with due preparedness. She also highlighted determination as a key quality which sustains her to withstand the phases that emerge as she fulfills this purpose.”Great things do not come through you easily; you have to be prepared to do the job; you do it as time goes on in it’s different phases; if you feel like that’s your purpose, you have to put in all your energy; God gives you all the energy needed for that.” she relayed.
Efya Nokturnal however stated that the goal of making music is to give her listeners a relatable experience and a boost of positivity in all aspects of their lives. She illustrated her idea of success by explaining that, “Being able to touch people with your music regardless of the reach; having people who listen to your music and are healed and comforted; The whole purpose of the sound is to project positive energy into people’s lives, be able to connect with them so that they can relate with your story, and be able to find a source of joy, hope and fulfillment in the music.”
