YouTube is the world’s largest online video platform. There’s no doubt about that. But the video giant may start to feel annoyed watching crowds of users come, and then leave, for other competing social platforms.
But YouTube has a plan, and it’s called “Backstage.”
Backstage Will Transform YouTube Into A Fully Fledged Social Platform
YouTube is facing tough competition from more “social” platforms like Facebook and Snapchat, both also getting stronger with video day after day. So, YouTube is now developing a new “platform” called backstage which will sit within the existing YouTube product. On Backstage, users will be able to share photos, links, text posts, polls… and videos of course. Everything shared, will be seen by your subscribers, who should also be able to interact with the content you published.
The feature will start to roll out very soon on select popular YouTube accounts, before rolling out to all of us during this coming fall, both on desktop and mobile.
It is a big new step for YouTube. Having been established as a strong leader in social video, YouTube has some serious arguments to put forward, to become the social networking platform Google has long been dreaming of.
