yoyo tinz, an organisation that is dedicated to archiving, documenting and promoting Ghanaian hip hop, is pleased to announce the launch of our official website. The event is scheduled to take place at the Brazil House inside James Town, on Friday June 10, 2016, at 6 pm.
Over the years the vision and mission of the yoyo tinz is gradually materializing in many different forms such as creating a visible platform for the hip hop culture (graffiti, beatboxing, dance, and rap) in Ghana. This has been possible due to the many activities including gintar tinz, Palabre, mash up, meet the artiste, and collaborations with other art and cultural organisations such as Accra Dot Alt, Alliance Française d’Accra and Ghana Graffiti.
yoyo tinz has been using free social media platform Tumblr for the archiving, documentation, and sharing of information about hip hop for about 3 years, and this has garnered the culture a good number of organic following. In our quest to reach more people, and also share the information on hip hop with people across the continent and beyond, we are launching a new user friendly website: www.yoyotinz.com. The site will provide live updates on events associated with Ghanaian hip hop and yoyo tinz.
A showcase of the main elements of the hip hop culture will be featured at the launch of this website – which forms part of efforts by yoyo tinz to provide platforms that contribute to the attainment of our organisational aims and objectives.
Just like the rest of the team, Essé, aka Madame yoyo tinz, is really excited about the launch. “It is not only about having a website; it’s about reaching a milestone. We’ve been working underground for 3 years, and now we’re really going live. I think the varied nature of Ghanaian hip hop makes it so rich, and we should be proud of that and share it widely,” she said.
The hashtag for the event is #YoyotinzWebsiteLaunch. We look forward to seeing you at Brazil House on Friday.
