YRefresh: The duo serving the hottest urban drive time show in Ghana

Ghana’s number one youth oriented station, Y107.9 as part of its ‘Y Refresh’ campaign has introduced new talents who will bring listeners a new trend of exciting content on radio.While new faces are introduced, existing programmes are being revamped with captivating contents.
Speaking on this initiative by YFM, DJ Mic Smith who has been with the station for over six years stated on the Men’s Lounge Show with Nana Yaw Odame, “YRefresh is a new face of the station. YFM has being around for a long time and we decided to change things, move things around and bring in some new guys. So we just decided to outdoor them and let the world know that these guys are here”.
Presenter Kojo Manuel on his part noted that the Y Refresh campaign was all about “vibes and energy”.
The Duo, who serve listeners with great entertainment on the ‘Dryve of Your Lyfe’ show shared their challenges and passions in their field of work.
The award winning DJ, Michael Owusu, popularly known as DJ Mic Smith disclosed that deejaying saved his life at a time when he was clueless about what to do with his life.
“I embraced deejaying and here I am today, after a decade, I am still around as DJ Mic Smith, one of the biggest DJs on the continent”.
He further revealed that his love for his profession grew when he listened to other DJs and that love still translates into the music he plays for his listeners on the‘Dryve of Your Lyfe’ show. DJ Mic Smith was recently awarded the best DJ in Greater Accra at the 2019 Ghana DJ Awards .
Kojo Manuel shared the same sentiment on having passion for the job when he said, “A lot of people in my field feel like they need to do extra to be noticed. But then I feel like it is a thing about passion where you need to figure out if you like what you are doing”.
Kojo Manuel started at YFM less than two years ago as the host of Raw Sauce, a midnight party show on YFM on Sunday mornings until eventually doubling up as the host of the 30mins Orijinal Beats Radio Show on Fridays & Saturdays.
He moved on to become the host of Party Pressure on Saturday nights from 8pm till 12midnight showing his progress as a presenter.
He is currently the host of the ‘Dryve of Your Lyfe’ show on YFM.
