Ghanaian Anglophone hip-hop and Afrobeat musician cum entrepreneur, D-Black has enlightened fans about how his new album ‘Loyalty’ was birthed.
According to him, he started working on the project in March last year when COVID-19 had kicked in.
“So I was stuck in the US from March to July and decided to record. I recorded the songs on so many different CDs. I don’t think I recorded any of the songs in an actual studio set up,” he revealed.
Talking about the journey and processes he went through to record the songs during that tough period, he said, “So we’ll go to Ada and record two songs, go to Kumasi record one song in another hotel room, I traveled to America did two songs and that was it.”
D-Black emphasized that he was all over the place having listening parties at his house, with different producers creating the album.
Talking to Nana Kwasi-Wusu (PM) on Y 97.9 FM’s Dryve of Your Lyfe Show, he said, “So at a point I could have like 4 music producers and like 3 or 4 artistes in my house at the same time just sampling music and sounds and also just to know which artiste fits better in which song and also mixing the songs.”
He explained that due to the turnout of events, the making of this particular album was a bit different from his other albums.
“It was a very different process for me but I wouldn’t say it was a difficult one as it was just the most different. I also had the most fun creating this album than any of my albums,” he added.
The Loyalty album is made up of 13 songs and features some other top Ghanaian and African artistes like: Akwaboah Jnr, Simi, Darkovibes, Ice Prince, Sefa and many others.
