Nigerian Afro Indie artiste Tommy WÁ has revealed the motivation behind his new single, “Gonna Get My Flowers.”
His melody, he says, was inspired by nature, God, women, and sometimes his examination of his own hypocrisy.
Speaking on the YLounge with Akosua Hanson, the singer said,
“Due to the influence of people I listened to on the radio when growing up, my song is a mixture of the blues, desert blues, and Indie.
“Gonna Get My Flowers” is an inspirational song which talks about a lover boy who wants to get his flowers. He knows it may take a while but definitely, he will get it. Flowers, in this context, represent the value of the work he does and his feelings about people.
Giving more details, Tommy said, “I question myself on how I make people feel, how my music makes people feel, and what it will mean for my community, the progress, value, and of course, there is the money value as well. These are the flowers, I guess.”
Tommy concluded by encouraging listeners to stay calm and stream his songs on all music streaming platforms.
Tommy WÁ , born Oluwatomiwa Oyakhilome Suleiman is a songwriter, guitarist, poet, visual storyteller. He has about eight singles to his name including, ‘Operation Guitar Boy,’ ‘Rainbow Kiss,’ ‘Till She Comes,’ ‘Come and Go,’ ‘So Help Me God’ and ‘Gonna Get Me Flowers.’
