Afriwave Telecom Ghana Limited, a leading telecommunication and construction firm in Ghana has proved its proficiency in managing Ghana’s Interconnect Clearing House (ICH) through a deactivation exercise of over 300,000 sim cards within its first six (6) months of test operations.
The exercise which is said to have saved Ghana millions of cedis is aimed at helping the government to improve on sanity and transparency in the telecom industry. Ghana, for some time now, has suffered a number of fraudulent activities in its telecom industry through cyber and sim box fraud, which has hindered the country’s ability to achieve some important developmental goals.
This was made known to the public recently by the Director of Corporate Affairs of Afriwave Telecom Ghana Limited, Mr. Donald Gwira in an interview on ‘Live Chat with Paul’ on eTV Ghana.
According to Mr. Gwira, the sim box fraudsters use sophisticated apparatus in their activities, but Afriwave used more superior and exclusive equipment to achieve its success.
He explained that Afriwave works with an effective system that enables the company to detect and track sim cards used in sim boxing among other effective techniques.
“Our system easily detects these sim cards that are used in sim boxing through which we believe we can help put an end to the corrupt activities some of our people use to cause financial lose to our dear nation”. He stated.
He indicated that Ghana’s telecom industry can be saved from the various illegal activities through the support of all on important decisions to improve the sector.
Mr. Gwira further stressed that because Afriwave is a wholly Ghanaian company, it is aimed at serving the country to the satisfaction of all.
“We bring a personal touch and partnership approach with its services by incorporating customers’ culture and organization into each specific project to enrich it and provide a unique solution”. He said.
Mr. Gwira further called on all telecomm operators to support the introduction of the ICH operations to boost government’s revenue for development.
