Y FM’s Akosua Hanson and Michael Ross, German illustrator and graphic novelist have teamed up to curate and co-facilitated Africomics, a workshop targeted at illustrators, storytellers and artists from Ghana and Nigeria. This workshop is aimed at encouraging the growth of the ecosystem of Ghanaian and Nigerian comic book and graphic novel scene.
The Africomics graphic novel workshop, created by the Goethe Institut Ghana kickstarted on the 1st of November to 5th, 2021.
Participants (writers, illustrators, digital artists) attended a workshop on the history of Graphic Novels, the art of telling a good story, storyboarding & illustration, and began work developing their own graphic novels at the end of the workshop.
Akosua Hanson is an experienced writer, a television personality, a radio presenter at YFM Ghana, and the creator of the critically acclaimed graphic novel, Moongirls; a novel that was shortlisted by the African Speculative Fiction Society earlier this year at the 2021 NOMO Awards.
