Alliance Francaise Accra and Institut Francais Ghana is glad to host renowned French saxophonist, Guillaume Perret, live in concert on Saturday 17th September,2016 at 8pm.
Guillaume Perret is a sound explorer who plays the wa-wa pedals and electric effects to elevate his notes to a new and surprising universe, one that makes you dream. His music doesn’t belong to a specific genre; rather it calls upon our senses. It is an innovative mixture of contemporary Jazz, and Funky grooves.
This saxophonist has always enjoyed tampering with instruments. With a single instrument juiced up with sound modifiers, he manages to be the whole band. Mirroring his ability to get a world of sound from a single instrument, his compositions roam just as erratically: folk tunes, frenetic Balkan dance numbers, electronic sonic, laments, dense sound walls, a little Saint-Vitus hot-foot. The thing about Guillaume Perret is he explores sound, distorting it to the point where you figure its careful stuff, executed with pre-planned exactitude.
He has performed at several events such as the Winter Jazz Festival NYC, London Jazz Festival, Dakar Jazz Festival and numerous jazz festivals as well as concerts both in his home country France and abroad.
Guillaume Perret can reproduce the effect of a string section, full-bore electronica, a drum set, a bass riff…and has composed about 15 tunes by himself. You have to keep reminding yourself that all this sound is just one guy with a sax. The artist is currently on an international tour and his first stop is Ghana at Alliance Francaise Accra.
To spice up this event Bernard Ayisah and Victor Dey; two masters of jazz music in Ghana will also be there to as well display their skillful artistry on stage.
It will be a night with the stars and a nice time to drink sparkling music brewed from the premises of Alliance française Accra on Saturday, 17th September, 2016 at 8pm.
