Happy FM, Ghana’s one number sports station, in collaboration with Ghana Anti-Corruption Coalition (GACC) are embarking on a campaign to promote transparency and accountability in Sports Administration in Ghana.
The campaign which will be launched at 8am on-air during Happy FM’s ‘Anopa Bosuo’ show on May 9, seeks to demystify the perception that sports administration in Ghana is engulfed with corruption.
The on-air launch will have representatives from Happy FM Sports Team, StarGhana and GACC among others who will give a summary about what the whole campaign is going to be about. The name of the campaign will also be unveiled at the launch.
Currently Sports Administration, with reference to football, is open to people who own or head the football clubs. The fans have no say. FIFA’s statutes also prevent third parties – including states – from ‘interfering’ in the affairs of the FA, hence worsening the opacity that already exists. This has made the FA feel almost immune to all attempts at accountability from the general public and even state agencies or the government.
This campaign also seeks to enhance transparency and accountability in the Sports Administration and address certain pertinent issues bothering the general public with regards to the Sports Administration.
The project is brought to you by StarGhana with funding from UK aid (DFID), DANIDA and EU.
