Ghanaian reggae artist, David Oscar has stated that musicians who do not write their songs are Karaoke Artists, not musicians.
Speaking with Haruna Babangida on Reggae Republic on Y 97.9FM, he mentioned that artists whose songs are written for them are Karaoke artists and added that there are quite a number of them in the Ghanaian music industry.
“There are artists who I will say are Karaoke artists, no disrespect but I am only trying to explain something, they write for them to sing and there are quite a number of them in the Ghanaian music industry”. He said.
He further mentioned that artists like himself who were working hard are not been recognized and awarded but other artists who are not working hard enough to deserve those honours and awards are receiving them.
“Those of us who are our own writers, we write our lyrical contents, we create our own melodies and then put them on beats and we sing or collaborate and sing. That’s also another bar but unfortunately, we don’t have so much education when it comes down to breaking down the act like this so, for me sometimes the wrong people get recognized or the wrong people get awarded ahead of the real people who have to be sorted out to be rewarded, but it’s all fine”, he added.
He finally entreated his listeners to anticipate his new song and video and continue streaming his songs on all digital platforms.
