Punishing Children for going astray is love - Counselor Albert Krampah

Albert Krampah, a career slasher and astute counsellor, has reiterated the significance of disciplining children for wrongful actions.

According to him, it is highly necessary for parents to chastise their wards when they commit a blunder, and move away from their teachings just as quoted in the Holy Bible.

The counsellor believes failure to redirect children from the wrongs does not depict a parent’s love but it rather gives them the opportunity to be “spoiled”.

“The bible says spare the rod and you spoil your child so as a parent you can’t pamper your child at the expense of corrupting them or leading them astray. Sometimes as parents when we lift our hands and spank children, we feel the pain ourselves but it is something that we need to do. Sometimes we ask them to kneel down or walk on their heels for a minute and these and other forms of punishment all help shape up the child,” he told NY during an interview on the “I Do segment of Y192.5 FM’s “Ryse n Shyne”.

In his view, he shared that it was dangerous for someone to have the final say with his development and for that the experiences in secondary school could help shape you as a person.

“Just like you go to secondary schools, it is important to be disciplined right from Form 1. It is important to be ‘hormoned’ and those kind of experiences build and make you whole no matter who you are. You have been pampered all your life at home so it is important that when you get there someone can order you around. ‘Hey fetch water for me, go and sleep’ and all so that you know in life it is not good to have the final voice. There are instances you need to have an authority over what you do but for your development and upbringing, it is dangerous to have the final voice,” he stressed.
