Former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, has expressed excitement over the growth of the country’s music industry.
He praised Ghanaian artistes for the impact and footprints they are leaving on the international music scene.
The ardent music lover who used to DJ back in the day disclosed, “I still love music and know the music industry is booming in Ghana and I am so happy for the artistes. The artistes are doing so well and the fact that they’re making an impact in the international music scene is remarkable.”
Mr. Agyepong, who attended the World Engineering Convention in Costa Rica in March, 2022, was surprised to hear Ghanaian songs during a boat ride. “The world is listening to us and it is fantastic. It is a great time.”
He urged Ghanaian musicians enjoying success to put in place proper financial management plans for their life. “They need to properly manage their finances so they can live longer and share their experiences with Ghanaians.”
In an interview with Rev Erskine on Y107.9FM’s LeaderBoard Series aired on the ‘Myd Morning Radio show’, Mr. Agyepong disclosed he is not just a music enthusiast, but has developed relationships with both the old and young crop of musicians.
“I have some musician friends like Ofori Amponsah. Edem comes home once in a while and I go to visit Daddy Lumba. Amakye Dede, I call him Daniel and so many of them. Even the young ones are cool friends of mine; Kelvin Boy and Darko Vibes. Even Tik Tak and I used to be very close. Kwaisey Pee comes home and we go out together, so I know quite a lot of musicians.”
