Music videos as an art form have become very important since they have been accepted as a significant part of the consumption of music.
And rapper, Edem, is one of the few Ghanaian artistes whose brand has been boosted by the quality of videos he releases.
His videos like Heyba and Nyedzilo were great and he is clearly not going to end there as he proves with the video for his latest song, Love Me.
Directed by Nana Asihene, the video portrays the complex issues in romantic relationships and how couples must show maturity in dealing with their differences.
After an argument between Edem and his lover while they are on a journey, his lady, played by actress, Jessica Larny, storms out of the car in anger when they are unable to reach any compromise.
All his pleas fall on deaf ears as she refuses to get back in the car.
Confused, Edem loses his way as he tries to get her back and when he makes it back to the car, he hopes that she will change her mind and come back to him.
“The video teaches the virtue of patience in relationships.
Love isn’t always sweet, sometimes, it gets bitter and in such moments, it’s important that you control yourself.
That is the concept of Love Me because if you truly love and respect your partner, you will definitely overcome your problems,” Edem told Showbiz last week.
Produced by Nigerian record producer, Lekki, the video which was posted on Sunday, May 20, has already around 13, 000 views and Edem attributes it to the quality of production which has great pictures including scenery and good sound.
“Artistes need strong creative visuals to give them a substantial advantage over competitors because visual impact can be just as powerful as music since it always draws attention,” he added.
