CEO of Beauty Base Plus, Mrs. Stephanie Baidoo Arthur has advised parents to give their children the chance to choose their own career path.
Using herself as an example she said, “Growing up, I really wanted to become a lawyer but my dad wanted me to be a nurse so he went ahead to get me the forms. I went for the interview and finally when it was time for me to go to school, I decided not to because that wasn’t what I really wanted to do”.
In an interview with Chelsy Sey on Y 97.9 FM’s Ryse N Shyne Show she said, “This got my daddy and everyone at home very angry to the point that my dad even threatened to disown me. He was angry because my school fees had been paid and everything was ready but I still refused to go to nursing school”.
Along the line, she noticed she could get creative with her hands especially when it came to making of hair and fixing of nails. “Fortunately or unfortunately for me, I lost my dad and this gave me the freedom to do whatever I wanted”, she stated.
She furthered that although it was not easy for her, it was worth it. She finally got the chance to go to a beauty school to learn what she was interested in. “I did this without having to think of my decision hurting anyone”.
“It wasn’t easy at all but with the help and consent of my single mother, I was able to achieve my dreams to get me to where I am today”.
She urged all parents to allow their children to express themselves and do what they have passion for because at the end of the day, “whatever happens is for the good of the child. Don’t force your children to go into any profession against their will”, she insisted.
