After 14 days of spectacular Disc Jockeying and radio presentation skills, Joseph Asamoah (DJ Herra) and Ransford Miezah (McRanny) have emerged as the winners of the 2021 edition and season 2 of Y-Discovery.
Y Discovery is a talent hunt competition organized by Y 97.9 FM every year to find and outdoor talented DJs and radio presenters in and around the city of Takoradi.
The finals of this year’s competition took place at the forecourt of the Takoradi mall and witnessed amazing performances from the selected finalists.
Judges for the night, TJDJ of YFM and JM Caesar, a veteran Broadcaster in the Western Region scored and made their judgements for the DJ’s based on their; originality, song selection, creativity & mixing, timing & transitions.
The Presenters were also scored and judged by their originality, diction, appearance and confidence & sense of humour.
After 4 hours of nerve-racking Disc Jockeying performances, DJ Herra emerged the victor of the DJ category surpassing DJ 90, DJ Snapchat and DJ Flip.
McRanny, with exceptional radio presenting skills and sense of humour, also emerged as the winner of the Presenters category trampling over Jyfa Kay, Abena Biggles and Ohemaa Hadasa.
The two expressed their appreciation and support from YFM and to their friends and fans.
“I am very happy, I am thankful to God for this victory and to my friends. I am super grateful to YFM Takoradi for this opportunity to showcase my talent to the rest of the world,” DJ Herra Said.
“I always had the passion for radio and did not how to go about it, I didn’t even know where to start from. YFM Takoradi has allowed me to be seen and proven to the world what I am capable of doing. I am eternally grateful to them and to all and sundry who have supported me this far,” McRanny added.
Programs Manager at Y 97.9 FM, Agyekum Gyimah also expressed his gratitude to all who registered to be a part of the competition and congratulated the winners of the night as well.
“I am overjoyed and I am very grateful for everyone who has contributed to the success of this competition. Thank you to you all especially all those who registered to be a part of the competition and congratulations to the winners as well, their door to success has been unlocked,” he said.
This year’s competition was among planned activities organized to mark the 10th Anniversary celebration of the Takoradi-based urban radio station.
