Ghanaian award-winning musician Dennis Nana Dwamena, better known as KiDi, has admitted that he did not expect to win “Album of the Year” at the 2020 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards and that he was mentally preparing himself for trolls.
“Every album in that category was tough,” the Sugar Daddy hitmaker acknowledged while talking to Kojo Manuel on The DrYve of Your Lyfe.
KiDi’s Sugar album went up against King Promise’s As Promised, Okyeame Kwame’s Made In Ghana, Joe Mettle’s Wind of Revival,
Sarkodie’s Black Love, Nacee’s Time With God, and Kwesi Arthur’s Live From Nkrumah Krom II.
He, however, deemed it a privilege to walk away with the award, stating that he deserved it.
In May 2019, KiDi released his debut album, Sugar. The 13-track featured collaborations with Cina Soul, Mr. Eazi, Kwesi Arthur, Mayorkun, Stonebwoy, and others.
He also released Sugar The Movie, which featured the songs from the album.
