Ghanaian musician, Kweysi Swat, says it is worrying if politicians in a country love their political parties over the overall interest of Ghanaians.
The musician, who describes his kind of music as liberation songs described Ghanaian politics as dirty.
Kweysi Swat who receives threats for addressing issues of national interest with his music in an interview with Y97.9FM’s Haruna Babangida on the ‘Reggae Republic Show’ said, “The kind of politics we do here is dirty and our people love political parties more than they love Ghana. So, whenever you talk about Ghana, they feel you’re targeting their political party.”
According to him, politicians after winning power should focus on running the country effectively and efficiently rather than focus on “normal rivalry or their political interest. When you pick up power, you must pursue national interest and not otherwise.”
“It is true some people may not have wanted you to be in power but that doesn’t mean when you come to power you should be fulfilling promises to party faithful only,” he advised.
Kweysi Swat has promised to take it upon himself to enlighten Ghanaians regardless of nothing having real power for change.
